Syncing with BlackBerry Enterprise server has long been one of the most requested features among Google Apps customers. Especially within the BlackBerry-dominated enterprise space, the fact that there was no way to easily integrate the two platforms was a huge disadvantage.
But starting today customers can get their hands on a Google Apps Connector for BlackBerry Enterprise. This means that for the first time, users can get good synchronization of core applications like Gmail and Google Calendar for the first time.
The new Connector they launched today will give you some fairly high-quality results. Emails sent to Gmail aren’t true push, but they’ll show up within 60 seconds. You can also read and delete emails and Calendar items with full unity with the online backup; Gmail labels will even translate into BlackBerry folders.
Google has been public about plans to get this feature out the door since May, but it’s been a long time coming. Since the company decided that Apps was something they wanted to sell to enterprises, lack of integration with BlackBerry Enterprise server has been an impediment to making that sale. Now that’s changed.
