Call of Duty Black Ops 6 new Sleep Agent perk is set to be one of the most divisive features of Treyarch’s return to the fold. CoD is already a game that feels as though it doesn’t need anything else to cause player rage, but the Sleeper Agent is going to cause an awful lot of bad language in the coming weeks and months. But what exactly is it, can you counteract its effects, and why is it there in the first place?
What is the Sleeper Agent perk?
It looks as though players will get the first look at the new Sleeper Agent perk in the upcoming Black Ops 6 Beta weekends and that could be where the penny drops that this could be a major change in the game this year.
The Sleeper Agent Perk fits in perfectly with the Black Ops vibe as it disguises your Operator as one of the enemy team – to them at least. While active it will make you appear as friendly – ie your name will be in blue and, as everybody is charging around thinking they are safe, you can start to kill them.
With each kill you get the perk’s active time is extended, meaning, in theory at least, you could wreak a lot of havoc and cause a huge amount of annoyance.
The perk is timed and doesn’t last a long time meaning you need to get into position and activate the perk and set to work in a short amount of time.
How to stop the Sleeper Agent
While the Sleeper Agent would seemingly give a great advantage to the attacking team, there are ways to negate them – one using a counter-perk and the other, just applying some common sense.
The counter Field Upgrade in question is Vigilance. If you apply this then the Sleeper Agent won’t work, they will saunter around the corner assuming they are invulnerable and you can double-tap them in the head. We look forward to the comedy videos.
The common sense method is to focus on what everybody else is doing. Even if a player activates Sleeper Agent it will be hard for them to untrain their brain not to just jump and slide around all over the place, assuming they are going to be killed by you. If a “teammate” is acting weird, pop them immediately and deal with the consequences if you are wrong.
