Best Steam Deck games on sale right now

The best thing about the Valve Steam Deck is that the perfect games to play on it are often not the massive triple AAA titles that might not see regular sales. Often the games you will end up playing the most are smaller indie titles, and could even be games you have never even heard of before.

There are so many great games out there that it is easy to just pick up the ones on sale to play until the next sale and then get some new ones. All the games listed below are on sale at the time of writing, and all of them remain well worthy of a place both in your library and on your Steam Deck.

Cult of the Lamb

There is much to love about Cult of the Lamb, the vicious, satanic lambs, the gameplay loop, and now the new DLC breathing even more life into it. It has an overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam for good reason and it plays like it was designed for the Steam Deck.

Dredge

A screenshot from Dredge

We have played a lot of Dredge here at Readwrite Gaming, it is super easy to pick up and much harder to put down as you send your little fishing vessel out against all the odds looking for treasure and fish, all the while trying to keep impending panic at bay as the Fog swirls every closer. Plays perfectly on the Deck and you will find this could take up an awful lot of your time once you get going.

Steam description: DREDGE is a single-player fishing adventure with a sinister undercurrent. Sell your catch, upgrade your boat, and dredge the depths for long-buried secrets. Explore a mysterious archipelago and discover why some things are best left forgotten.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

This took a while to get to Steam and now it has landed it has landed with 40% off the RRP making it well worth picking up.

Perfectly playable on the Deck although quitting out is a bit jankier than most, this might get a patch sooner rather than later to fix that up as it doesn’t seem anything too major to sort out.

Steam Deck compatibility: Playable (need to use the on-screen keyboard to enter text during setup and the game does not exit cleanly and may require a manual quit via the Steam Overlay)

Released: (Steam) 8th August 2024

Titanfall 2

The game that spawned the Battle Royale Apex Legends, which is set in the same universe as Titanfall. Titanfall 2 was an epic of its era and it is still worthy of your time today, especially at its on-sale price of under $3. That is literally a steal.

Steam Deck compatibility: Playable (small text and a need to enter text with the keyboard occasionally)

Released: 28th Oct 2016

Steam description: Respawn Entertainment gives you the most advanced titan technology in its new, single-player campaign & multiplayer experience. Mining Mechs

Mining Mechs is a great game I picked up on sale only yesterday having never played it before. I like differing games and this is very reminiscent of a Flash game from 2004 – Motherload. Even if your memory doesn’t reach that far back, you will have a lot of fun with this it costs less than a dollar for the basic version right now, and less than $2 if you want the DLC which is recommended as it brings some QoL changes.

Steam Deck compatibility: Playable (small text and a need to enter text with the keyboard occasionally)

Released: 27th Oct 2023

Steam description: Unleash your inner miner as you commandeer a high-tech Mining Mech! Mine for valuable resources and upgrade your mech for even bigger hauls as you explore the underground. Fun to play alone or with up to 7 friends in online co-op multiplayer!
