Bally’s Casino is now open in Newcastle, England, representing the first venue for the US gambling and entertainment giant in the United Kingdom.
Located at The Gate complex in the north-east city, Bally’s has taken over the former Asper’s Casino operation, but much more is still to come.
The new facility will remain open during extensive refurbishment with customers told to expect “a luxurious, state-of-the-art environment”.
Bally’s Newcastle general manager David Tait told the Chronicle: “My team and I look forward to welcoming both our current and new guests, and we can’t wait to showcase everything we’ve been working on. We remain open, and guests will be able to see some exciting changes very soon.”
With the rebrand of the Newcastle casino now complete, the full makeover is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2025.

Further UK growth and brand expansion
Bally’s has insisted they are just getting started with plans for their new venue, in what is one of the company’s first casino ventures outside the United States. With this breakthrough launch, it would not be a surprise if Bally’s adds to its casino venue portfolio elsewhere in Britain.
The brand has an existing presence in the UK through its online operation, as a result of the Megaways acquisition in 2023.
Kevin Clegg, Bally’s VP of British retail and corporate affairs, added on the Newcastle project:
“Our guests can look forward to an enhanced experience throughout the year while we complete our refurbishment plan. We are proud to become a part of the Newcastle community and to contribute to the local economy in a safe, responsible gambling environment.”
In recent days, Bally’s US parent group confirmed a revenue slump following the divestiture of its Asia-facing online operations.
The group has shared its revenue for the first quarter of 2025, posting $589.2 million, a 4.7% year-on-year decrease.
