Samsung Gear Sport was recently unveiled at the 2017 IFA conference held in Berlin and in recent times, it has been introduced to foreign markets such as Russia, UAE, Canada, Netherlands, and others. Today, Samsung has added improved features to the Gear Sport by releasing a new firmware update to the device. The firmware being rolled out to the Gear Sport has the version number AQJ5 – R600XXU1AQJ5 and it weighs 28.70MB. This update comes with improved sensor accuracy that enables it to better detect heart rate and pace during exercises.
Other added new features that come with this update include Fitness programs, Samsung Health-Weight management, editing workout screen, and Health Summary Widget. In addition, this update also brings improved security, better device stability, and bug fixes. The Gear Sport is currently available in blue and black colours with a wide variety of changeable 20mm straps. It is currently available in South Korea, US, UK and was recently introduced to parts of Europe and the Middle East.
The Samsung Gear Sport combines minimalist design with military-grade durability and it weighs only 50 grams. This device packs a Super AMOLED 1.2-inch screen with 360 x 360 resolution display resolution. It is powered by a 1GHz Dual-core processor coupled with 68MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Its display is backed by a Mali-T720 MP1 GPU while it supports LTE Cat 4 150Mb/s network. Its supports Bixby thus it can be used to control Samsung IoT-enabled devices. In addition, this smartwatch is 5 ATM certified which means that it can be used in water up to 50m deep. It is further compatible with S Health app, heart rate monitor, Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, and GPS. The light of this smartwatch is kept on by a 300mAh battery.
This is a global rollout, so if your Gear Sport hasn’t received the update then you might have to wait a little longer over the coming weeks.
