Wearable fitness tech is a bit of a hot topic at the moment and Samsung are making no secret of the fact they want to be a key player in this arena. The first Gear Fit fitness tracker was launched in 2014, and now its time that it gets a well deserved refresh.
Today, the full specifications of the Gear Fit 2 (SM-R360) have become available online. It features a 1.55-inch 216 x 432 Curved Super AMOLED display, Samsung 1GHz dual-core processor, it also 512MB RAM, 2GB internal storage, IP68 certification, 200mAh battery and runs Tizen 2.3. To round off the specs we have GPS and GLONASS, heart rate sensor, gyroscope, barometer, and accelerometer.
The original Gear Fit ran a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) and we thought future iterations would follow suit. It would appear that Samsung have successfully been able to implement the Tizen Micro Profile in this device. Tizen Micro profile targets headless Internet of Things (IoT) devices that support RESTful APIs and Nodejs for applications.
There is no further Information regarding pricing or availability at the moment, but Samsung is expected to launch the device in June.
