Apple Offers Handy How-To For Android Users Who Want To Make The Switch

Apple is confident that not only current iPhone users are going to be lured into buying its latest smartphone offerings this week, but droves of Android users, too.

Ahead of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus releases, Apple has created a thorough support document aimed at Android users looking to switch over to iPhones.

As a former Android user who made the switch to iPhone last year, I found Apple’s guide did a good job of explaining the biggest changes that might confuse any Android user. The guide teaches you how to transfer your music, photos, documents, and apps using the iTunes store, when previously you would have worked with Web-based online services.

Apple advises former Android users to make use of third-party apps like Copy My Data and PhotoSync to transfer files over WiFi if they don’t want to use iTunes.

Apple is betting that Android users will be tempted to convert mainly because of the iPhone 6 Plus. Previously, Android phones made up the majority of options for people who wanted phablets.

During his presentation last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook predicted that the new iPhone’s enhanced features would spark “the mother of all upgrades”

The new iPhones 6 models are available for preorder now, and will be in stores on Sept. 19. Pre-orders for the iPhone 6 Plus are selling more quickly than the iPhone 6, but it’s unclear if this is because it’s more popular or there were fewer copies of this model primed for order dates. .
