When Samsung had stated that they wanted to make their Smart TV a single hub for all sorts of content without the need for extra hardware or services, they were pretty serious about it. The South Korean giant has been constantly pushing out updates to their huge range of Smart TVs to bring more content partners on-board. The most recent update that we are now hearing about is the arrival of the popular music streaming app, Spotify on to Samsung’s Smart TVs.
The new Spotify app will only be available on Samsung’s 2015 and 2016 line up of Tizen based Smart TVs. The app will work for both free and premium Spotify users. However, people who own a 2014 series of Samsung Smart TV will be getting the Spotify app which supports premium users only. Spotify claims to have redesigned the UI to accommodate the large screen of Samsung’s Smart TVs and make it easier to search and control music from Spotify’s large library of over 30 million songs.
The spotify app on Samsung TVs can also be controlled via user’s phones, tablets and even desktop by using Spotify Connect. Here’s the list of features that Spotify’s Samsung Smart TV app will feature-
- Use on-demand playback, available for both Premium and Free listeners.
- Access a new and improved Browse section.
- Search the entire Spotify catalog.
- Preview content.
- Control their music and login remotely using Spotify Connect.
- Experience an optimized “big screen” interface with beautiful artwork.
