The smart home system, RoomMe is getting a new update that will extend the support of it. With the update, two more smart home hubs will be compatible with RoomMe – these are the Insteon Hub and the Logitech Harmony.
How it Works…
RoomMe is a smart home True Occupancy Automation system and uses patented presence sensing technology to see if you’re home or not. The RoomMe system works by using PTS – Presence Sensing Technology with Bluetooth. They use the unique Bluetooth signature from a selected smartwatch or smartphone. In effect, the devices are tracked via their device and RoomMe will act accordingly.
RoomMe will be able to work with Siri Shortcuts?
Yes, with the update, RoomMe will be able to work with Siri Shortcuts. This will allow Siri to manually execute a RoomMe charm when you ask. Pretty cool feature. As well as this, the voice assistant could probably give you details about which rooms have a RoomMe user inside and how long they’ve been there.
New connection with Samsung smartwatches?!
A major feature that is coming is the fact that the update allows RoomMe to connect with Samsung smartwatches that runs Tizen OS 4.0 and above. This is probably very useful for many users due to the fact that they have their smartwatch on most of the day. You can leave your phone in the other room for a bit if you wish and rely only on your watch. Some people have been complaining about when their phone dies, so does the functionality of RoomMe. Now, if you’re connected with your smartwatch, you don’t have to worry about that either.
What Works with RoomMe?
RoomMe can connect with devices that use Wink, Sensibo, Philips HUE, LIFX, Ecobee, Apple Homekit devices, as well as Sonos and Bose smart home systems.
