Productivity increases significantly when all your essential applications can be accessed via any of your devices , whether it be in car infotainment , printing or via your TV. Gartner a market analyst firm say that by 2016 most collaborative applications will be available on all devices which allows for real time collaboration resulting in more effective work. One example could be a driving employee who could have company information transmitted to his mobile phone and the vehicle via a collaborative application.
“In the past, collaboration on mobile devices means interaction through wireless messaging and voice calling,” – Monica Basso, research vice president at Gartner.
Since most mobile applications for business or organisational use are very specific organisations need to resort to the usage of multiple tools with fragmentation and no standardization , Gartner predicts within 3-5 years every organisation will use collaboration applications. Gartner also predicts that by 2016 the average personal cloud will synchronize and organize at least six types of devices with the ability to share the same storage space across all devices.
