Google Plus Accepting Accounts Again (Sometimes)

It may not stay this way for long, we can’t say, but if you visit Google.com/plus right now you should be able to create an account on Google’s new social network if you haven’t yet. I just created a second one. Several members of our team were able to, with multiple test accounts. You may need to clear your cache before you’ll be let in. This will probably be the last time we post about the service’s availability. (Especially since several commenters are now telling us that accounts are closed again! Ugh, we created three of them in the last 30 minutes and saw several mentions of accounts opening on Twitter.)

Update: We just got another one in and several readers have told us on Twitter they’ve just got in. So it looks like they are dribbling in, sorry for all those who feel taunted by the non-news. You have to wonder how long Google is going to wait to open the doors and if they risk incurring some ill will.

Google may be tapping the gas pedal for short periods of time each day, or they may have seen Facebook’s fancy new Skype partnership today and just decided to throw the doors wide open. Go and check it out if you haven’t yet, then come back here and enjoy some links below to our thorough coverage of Google Plus so far. The following posts are already heavily discussed in Plus itself, along with so much more.

If you can’t get in, try clearing your browser cache. And if you do get in, come and be my friend there please so we can talk about wonderful things.
