Mark Selcow
Mark is a serial entrepreneur and operator, leading organizations in the enterprise software and consumer Internet sectors. As a Partner at Costanoa, Mark has led investments in Quizlet, LivelyHSA, Noyo, NumberAI, Quizlet, Skedulo and Springboard, Comun, Umba, Propeller Aero and Replicant. Before joining Costanoa, Mark co-founded and was President of two very successful companies. Founders especially appreciate Mark’s deep operating experience on their boards and as he advises them. His first company, BabyCenter, was a pioneer in the consumer Internet and grew to become a leader in the online parenting market. It was sold to Johnson & Johnson in 2001. The second, Merced Systems. became the dominant provider of Performance Management software for large customer service functions. An innovator in combining operating data, complex derived metrics, and human factors like coaching, incentives, and games to achieve improvements in employee customer service performance, Merced grew to profitability from its first year of shipped product and was sold to NICE Systems in 2012. Previously, Mark worked in the biotechnology industry and held product positions at Amgen and Cetus Corporation. He holds an MBA from Stanford and a BA from Brown.
