A proposed Manhattan entertainment complex, known as the Avenir, is reported to potentially partner with Hyatt if it secures a casino license in New York City, and is approved for development.
The report comes from CDC Gaming, who state this will take place if the Avenir is the chosen winner of a competitive bidding war for the license.
The publisher continues to say it will operate under the Destination by Hyatt brand and will include 1,000 rooms and suites.
The mixed-use complex has been proposed for Manhattan’s Far West Side and is located on 92,000 square feet of ‘undeveloped land.’
What is the Manhattan-based casino complex, the Avenir?
The Avenir is a proposed entertainment complex featuring a 1,000-room hotel, casino, more than 12 restaurants and bars, conference and meeting rooms, a spa and fitness center, outdoor pool, boutique entertainment venue, and a community art gallery.
It has been designed by CetraRuddy Architecture and Steelman Partners, with the building to tower 785 feet. A first-class gaming facility is said to become part of the space, too.
“Over the last 40 years we have invested heavily in this neighborhood, and care deeply about the fabric of this community,” said Lisa Silverstein, Chief Executive Officer, Silverstein Properties.
In a press release on the official website, it is stated that the project would provide “numerous opportunities for local business participation if approved.”
The project is said to create “4,000 well-paid union construction jobs and more than 5,000 permanent union jobs with industry leading benefits.
“It will also generate billions of dollars in direct and indirect economic activity for the State and the City, as well as funding specifically for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority,” a press release stated.
It was in May when it was announced the real estate development and management firm Silverstein Properties would be working in partnership with Rush Street Gaming to operate the Avenir.
Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment are also a partner, advisor and investor in the project.
