meetMoi is an app for the Android and iPhone platforms that takes the basic idea behind location-based mobile advertising and brings it to the dating game.
Using meetMoi is as simple as downloading the app, filing out a basic profile, and letting it do all the rest.
The app shares your location with meetMoi and in return, we look for people around you that meet your search criteria. When we find someone who’s a fit, we let you both know with an alert. From there, you have an hour to decide whether or not you’re interested in chatting. If there’s mutual interest, you have an additional hour to chat through the app and get to know one another. We never share your exact location with anyone, only your proximity.
The app is launching next week for 500 lucky guys and gals in New York City where, not only will users get introductions, but if they decide to meet up, meetMoi is going to foot the bill for a couple of drinks.
Persistent background location – a feature just recently introduced to the iPhone – has a vast potential and it’s exciting to see it used in this way. meetMoi brings all of the potential of online dating into the real-time, location-based world – something we’ve heartily called for in mobile apps.
