Zettaset Launches Data Warehouse for Security Forensics

Zettaset, formerly known as GOTO Metrics, announced a new product today: a data warehouse for forensic analysis called Security Data Warehouse (SDW). It will enable risk management professionals to analyze multi-petabyte data sets for anomalies or problematic patterns in data collected from firewalls, website traffic, security devices, transaction logs or other sources.

SDW uses Zettaset’s data management solution, which provides a graphical interface running on top of Apache Hadoop. SDW is designed to be integrated with existing security event information management systems (SEIMs), but can also serve as a standalone data warehouse.

Zettaset is focused on offering Hadoop solutions to verticals such as security, healthcare and telecommunications. SDW reminds me of HPCC Systems, the data analysis platform open-sourced by LexisNexis. HPCC was originally created by LexisNexis Risk Solutions, and has support for data warehousing and analysis. However, the version now sold by the spinoff company doesn’t include isn’t optimized to any particular vertical. SDW is meant to be a more of a turnkey solution.

Zettaset changed its name from GOTO Metrics earlier this month when it closed $3 million in funding from Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) and Epic Ventures. The company was founded in 2007.
