Hacker Poll: Do You Plan to Learn Any New Programming Languages in 2011?

Do you plan to pick up any new languages next year? Or do you think your time would be better spent honing the skills you already have?

JavaScript guru Douglas Crockford said during the Future of Programming Languages panel at the Strange Loop Conference that we’ve entered an experimental era of programming in which many new programming languages are being created and used. It’s also been long suggested that learning new languages will help programmers become better programmers, even if they don’t end up using the new languages they learn. Assembly and Lisp are frequently cited as examples of languages programmers should learn.

On the other hand, the best way to get better at programming is to do it. Perhaps your time would be better spent actually coding?
